He tried to do somthing for his people, when other peoples do nothing. He thought the main reason of Cherokee nation's problem was there was no words for their language. Thus, He made words and that words gave good effects to Chrokee nation. That is why he is called by patriot.

2. What is the meaning of utter as it is used in the passage?

The word, utter means speak aloud, pronounce, or make a sound.

3.  Why weren't any books written in Cherokee before 1821?

There is no way to write in Cherokee language before 1821. After developing their word by Sequoya, Cherokee people can make books and newsparer in Cherokee.
